Vintage Freestanding Joseph Rodgers 112 Piece Cutlery Canteen Faux Bone Handle

This is for a lovely Vintage item, a 112 piece/12 place Freestanding Oak Cutlery Canteen from Joseph Rodgers of Sheffield which was originally retailed by the highly regarded jewellers H Pidduck & Sons of Hanley & Southport. Silver Plate forks, spoons, etc with faux bone handle knives having the blades imprinted “G R Joseph Rodgers & Sons Cutler To His Majesty Sheffield England Stainless”. In a green baize effect lined canteen with fitted lid & base along with period label “H Pidduck & Sons Ltd Hanley & Southport”. The silver plated items are imprinted “Rodgers EP England” to the reverse. The canteen itself is a lovely period piece with turned wood legs having support rails to all 4 sides, decorative carved scallop style design to 3 sides under the main canteen, top with deep rounded edge and brass lock (no key). The lid opens on brass hinges incorporating retainers so remains upright. Faux bone handle pieces comprise 12 x table knives, 12 x side/dessert knives, knife sharpener and carving fork while the silver plated pieces are 9 x table forks, 12 x side/dessert forks (2 stamped G Ellis Ltd Sheffield EPNS but a good match), 6 x table/serving spoons, 12 x large dessert spoons, 12 x smaller dessert spoons, sauce ladle, 11 x teaspoons, 12 x slightly larger coffee spoons plus 10 further teaspoons and 1 soup spoon with different makers marks. Minor marks to the exterior of the canteen as expected from age & use, minor cosmetic damage from wear over the years to the green baize effect lining – See Photos – cutlery in very good used condition for their age. Lovely period canteen, overall in good Vintage condition. The top is 61cm x 40.5cm with the actual canteen 58.5cm x just under 38cm.
