Mappin Plate (Electro Plated Nickel Silver – Highest Quality). 48 Piece Set Consists of. 2 Piece Carving Set (knife missing). With this set not only will you be adding style to your dining table, but also making sure you are prepared for every eventuality. 3 teaspoons are replacements but in the same pattern, just a little longer. MAPPIN PLATE mark and on the knife blades with the M TRUSTWORTHY MAPPIN & WEBB SHEFFIELD and date letter x. The majority (all but 4 pieces) of spoons and forks are marked MAPPIN & WEBB MAPPIN PLATE with W or X date letter for 1951-52. All knives have superior quality silver plated hollow handles with world famous Sheffield stainless steel blades. You can feel the quality when holding as all pieces are of very good weight. This is a vintage set of cutlery that has the normal signs of use and surface scratches. It is very well made by one of the most well known and respected silversmiths in the country. The solid compact wooden box does have a few imperfections on the outside and inner but is original to the set. Unfortunately I don’t have the key for the canteen.
