Pride by David Mellor. Silver Service Cutlery Set. The knives feature classic hollow handles crafted from Ivoril, a high-quality synthetic resin, paired with Sheffield stainless steel blades bearing the Elkington logo. These resilient and hygienic handles provide both elegance and durability to your table setting. The spoons and forks are marked on the underside of the handles with Elkington stamps. This cutlery set has been well looked after with the normal signs of use. Accessories include seven cutlery tubes, six plastic cutlery rolls, and one cloth cutlery roll. Please note: Photographs from my brochure included in the listing are for reference only and are not part of the sale. David Mellor designed the Pride pattern in 1953, drawing inspiration from his Scandinavian scholarship at the Royal College of Art in Sheffield. The innovative design received a Design Council Award in 1957. David Mellor subsequently became design consultant at Walker & Hall, who produced and distributed the Pride range globally, with Elkington & Co later licensed for production. David Mellor eventually established his own factory and shop in Derbyshire.
