Magnificent 4 Piece, Habis Brand Large Silver Plate Caviar Service 12.5 Diameter. Habis of Lebanon, a well established silversmith on par with some of the best in French style work, well known in Europe and The Middle East. Designed with the classic rope edge motif. Caviar Bowl: Gold Plated Interior: 5 1/8 inches diameter x 21/4 inches high, 7 oz excellent condition. Three Prong Bracket: Holds the bowl above ice: 9 inches diameter, 3/4 inches high, 10 oz, excellent condition. Ice Bowl: 8 1/4 inches diameter by 4 3/4 inches high, 2 pounds weight, very good condition, very few use marks. Platter: 12 1/4 inches diameter, 1 inch high, 2 pounds weight, good condition, has some marks from use. Platter has some use marks on the inside of the platter, outside rim in excellent condition. Overall weight approximately 5 pounds. This service makes a stunning presentation of caviar for those serving large portions especially with gold reflections in the bowl. The Lebanese company Habis was the first silversmithing firm to be founded after their independence in 1943. The firm was established at the request of the country’s first president, Bechara El Khoury. Initially, Habis produced sterling silver only, by the 1960s the firm diversified into goods of silver-plate such as this Caviar set.
