Vintage Birmingham Silver Co. Six Piece Silverplate Tea and Coffee Set
Up for consideration is a vintage six piece silver on copper tea set by Birmingham Silver Co. An elegant full service (minus tray) with the classically designed pieces crafted with substantial weight and size. Much loved and enjoyed across the decades, the silver plating is bright with a clear luster with the presence of expected light surface scratching and spots of oxidation most notable on the sugar bowl. The interiors of each piece show occasional stains, spotting, and darkening from use, however, none of the copper base metal is seen bleeding through as is so prevalent to the interiors of vintage Birmingham pieces. The tilting hot water urn shows a small ding on one side where it rests in its cradle. This is difficult to photograph and is visible though not distracting at high polish. The finial on the sugar bowl cover is also slightly askew. These are easily repairable by any qualified jeweler or metalsmith. Otherwise no dents, dings, rub marks, plate loss, or other compromising imperfections are seen. The hinges operate as intended and the Birmingham hallmark is seen on the bottom of each piece. Wear is commiserate with age and history of use so please regard all photos as they form a descriptive part of the listing. Included are a 14″ tilting water kettle on a designated cradle with burner, an 11″ coffee pot, a 10″ tea pot, a 6″ covered sugar bowl, a 4″ cream pitcher, and a 4″ waste bowl.
