A SUPERB Large Cased Ornate Antique Silver Plated Fish Knife & Fork Serving Set
Please read the whole description! On offer is a large cased set of silver plated fish knife & fork set. The box knife is 30 cm long and the fork is 23.3 cm long. The sets seems to have a history behind it as well as there is an etching to celebrate a special moment. Fully hallmarked with the makers’ mark WY which corresponds to the William Yates company. The handles are made of bovine bone, the ferrules of Sterling silver and the rest of the body is silver plated. The gross weight is 223 grams. This set is a truly magnificent piece that pictures don’t do it any justice! Condition Report : This set is in excellent condition throughout. It didn’t really need it but I have polished it with Goddard’s solution. It was already very clean but now is in as close to “as new” condition. There are very little signs of use, if any really. The only thing that makes think it may have been used is the old style surface marks from silver polishing agents and a couple of micro dings on the knife’s cutting edge. They are hardly noticeable unless you spot them under direct light. The bovine bone handles are in mint condition with no blemishes, very smooth texture. Case is also very clean which reinforces the idea that this set hasn’t been used but just polished and left for display. An antique set of nearly 100 years old cannot get any better than that.. The asking price is 150 GBP and there are 25 watches. To my mind this set is in much better condition and should be reflected in the asking price.
