This is a lovely Victorian set of cutlery that has the original very hard to find carbon steel blades on the table and dessert knives. HAMMOND CREAKE & CO. With this set not only will you be adding style to your dining table, but also making sure you are prepared for every eventuality. All pieces are stamped on the underside of the handle of the spoons and forks with. H C & CO S SAC. Mark and engraved on the blades with the HAMMOND CREAKE & CO WARRANTED SHEFFIELD mark. All knives have superior quality hollow handles that are made from Tusca that are attached to world famous Sheffield cardon steel blades. Tusca is a man made resin of the highest quality. The much-admired handles of these knives are very hygienic and really add an extra touch of style to your table setting. These are vintage pieces that are in fantastic condition that are approx 125 years old have the normal signs of use. And please be aware that carbon steel blades are extremely sharp, so no need for steak knives, carbon steel was also called sword steel. It has been in storage for a while so will benefit from a polish before you use it for the first time as I have only polished the pieces in the photo for the place setting. The wooden canteen is also the original individually racked cabinet that has a lock but no key and has enough extra spaces to add a further six settings and a host of serving pieces. Checking through the set I note that the soup spoons have been added at a later stage to this set as they were not even made at the time this set was made and most of the dessert spoons are by a different maker as these were always the pieces that got the most use and were frequently re placed. But are still in the matching Old English pattern so are a perfect match to the set.
